SHARON COOPER, Designer
At age 10, Sharon Cooper received her first inclination that interior design was her destiny. Friday night sleepovers at her grandmother’s house were a weekly ritual. “I asked her if I could move her furniture around,” Sharon explains. “My grandmother was a free sprit, so she said ‘Sure.’ I was hooked. Of course, being a perfectionist, I had to clean and scrub the woodwork before moving the furniture.” Rearranging furniture became one of her favorite Friday night activities. Sharon studied commercial art in St. Louis and graphic design at the Kansas City Art Institute. After raising children, she returned to school to study interior design. She has 20 years experience in the industry, 13 years with Madden-McFarland. Sharon is highly organized, professional and has excellent color sense.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
Graphic design taught me that “the idea” was of critical importance in advertising. In interior design, “the idea” is a living space. It must have strong visual appeal, serve useful purpose and make a positive statement about the people who live in it. I work hard to please my clients. I want to give them an elevated sense of comfort and style in their surroundings. I derive satisfaction from both remodel and new home projects. With a remodel, you get an immediate sense of the client’s personality. I like the challenge of introducing new elements to existing decor in a way that gives new life to the room. On the other side, there is exhilaration that comes with the fresh canvas of a new home. I love to work with the client to help them see what their new home can become.
